Default Venting engine compartment through fenders

I saw a video Jay Leno did on a 1955 Mercedes 300SL Gullwing. Looks like it's has functional vents on the fenders. I wonder if this could be done on our Crossfires to reduce the engine bay temps? Maybe just cut a hole in the fender and put a mesh screen behind the "gills" instead of the louvers.

Possible, I guess, and would think that squirrel_crusher would have already done it.
As a side note, that 300SL is one of the most beautiful cars EVER, along with the Ferrari California.
( Don't really care for the wheels, but hey, it was 1955 )

Our Prime Minister has one, he inherited it from his father a former PM.

And my instrument flight instructor ( and professional magician ) had one back in 1972 when I was learning to fly. His was REALLY special : no paint, aluminum body, one of 3 built for the Mexican road race in 1955.

Thanks SC, I thought I remembered something like that but wasn't sure.
Guess that's why you popped into my head.

Not sure if it's still there but last summer it was in Star Motors of Ottawa show room. It's a roadster and looked like it had been refurbished

Wow SC, where did you learn how to do that? You've got some great fabrication skills!

While we all have our personal preferences when it comes to wheels (or just about anything else for that matter!) I happen to think those original Rudge knockoffs are gorgeous. It helps that they add about $50,000 to the value of the car compared to the standard wheels, too!
