Default overheating slightly in traffic

Hi all...
I have a 2004 Crossfire Coupe...doesn't get much time on the road lately - more of a garage queen, lately since I am so busy at work...Only 48,930 original kms...had the oil and filter done last year...everything works, including the air and the rear spoiler!!
I got stuck in city traffic last week, and the temp gauge started to creep into dangerous territory, so I pulled over and let it cool off...The electric fan was on (the main fan), so no problems with the thermoswitch or the fan motor...
Has anyone done a COOLING SYSTEM FLUSH for this? Could it be a stuck thermostat?
Otherwise, everything is perfect...Attached are some pics of the car...

Only things that come to mind with the fan working is a stuck shut thermostat, low coolant level, malfunctioning water pump, collapsed radiator hose or one honking big rat nest in front of the radiator.

Just how far past the halfway mark did it go? If not more than a needle-width past, you are fine - the engine cooling fan does not run full speed until the coolant gets to around 215F, which is about a needle-width past halfway.

VERY nice info to know! In the summer I have noticed mine slightly above the middle mark, and was distracted enough to keep my one good eye on it more than occasionally. It never did go 'higher', just annoyed me. Good info to know!

I have driven my SRT6 in 46 C (118 F) air temp and yes, she goes a little above the half way mark. All good. God i love my car.

Without a definition of dangerous territory it is a waste itprritati time answering this thread. It has been over a day since he posted and was asked. This looks like a thread to nowhere.

This iPad fills in words and sometimes puts in rubbish, if I do not see it is published.

I'm in agreement with Gary. The coolant gauge typically levels out around midpoint; maybe slightly higher.

From my experience, if the thermostat gets stuck shut & doesn't open, coolant temp will skyrocket to the hot side.
