Default Oil drain plug removal

Not coming off with normal force, before using excessive must ask: it does remove normally (counter clockwise) and with a 13mm wrench ? Correct ?

OKI, just needed a 12" ratchet. Oil is drained.

New oil filter has four gaskets inside. Long oil filter cap thignie has no O-rings. Suspect one is for drain plug & fig one is for filter cap rim but where do the other two go please ?

Nothing in OM & pictograms that came with filter not much help.

There is one that is usually provided, but has no application for our cars.

OIL THE O-RINGS before insertion.

The little left over o-ring is great for replacing the stock o-ring on the dip stick. The stock o-ring is a bit loose, and some have blown the dip stick out at WOT. Installing this extra gasket makes it a very tight fit.

The drain plug uses a one time copper crush washer, NOT an O ring !

Thanks to all. Dealer (last oil change) used a filter that seemed to have metal squares (chicken wire) covering surface. Filter I used was a Mann-Filter HU 718/5 X Metal-Free Oil Filter.

Oil warning (FSS?) reset.

BTW is the fragile plastic clip holding the upper coolant hose needful ? If so will need to make something, clip mount is blind at bottom so cannot just use a loose hose clamp.

Drain plug has a metal ring. 3should fit on the filter housing an 1 can be used on the dipstick.

Fifth (extra) O ring is much larger than one on dipstick - that seems more like the smallest on on the end of the stack. Extra one is same size as one just below the filter.

In pic 1 is largest and 4 is smallest. Think #2 is the extra one.

Is the hose bracket necessary ?

Is the whole oil filter cap available? Like to have spares of plastic pieces. Bit large for a 3D printer.

The filters I use are Manns and they came with five O-rings, you use four on the filter housing. That leaves one spare.
The biggest problem is when the largest O-ring is positioned wrongly in the upper most groove which actually is just a relief for the thread. What happens then is oil leaking all over the engine.

You've got the smallest one wrong. The one for the dipstick is the smallest of the 5. It is approx. 14mm o.d. (9/16"+).
Regarding the hose bracket: I can tell you that I replaced mine when I cracked the clip on it. It serves to support the hose for less hose fatigue/collapse I guess.

Picture is from video. Put the largest one on mine the same groove the original was in (think below threads) and no leaks. Wondered about the video.

Extra one in my packet was too large for dipstick (same as #2 in picture).

Use the old one you took off.
