Oil leak /what is this part?!?
Oil leak /what is this part?!?
Hey guys.. I'm a bit stumped. I got under my xfire to inspect the driver's side exhaust/catalytic converter because of a P2098 code (a whole other topic..) anyways I found that I have a leak on the lower end of the passenger side of the engine. It's not a horrible leak but it's pretty fresh looking. Anyways there's a line that runs through the area where the leak seems to be coming from and there's a connector that is disintegrated. I have no idea what this line is. I'm now thinking that it might be a coolant line of some sort?? Anyways.. I'm clueless to what it is so I can't even research how to repair it. Here's a little video... Hopefully one of you can identify this line/part for me.

Jane with no name, your leak is most likely the transmission electrical connector. I think what you are seeing is just that being blown around. Take a good look at it, front passenger side of the transmission.
Cheap fix, about $12 - $15 for a new connector body with O rings.

I thought I saw the bolt holding that clamp below the line but since I didn't know for sure I didn't post with false info. Another thought (I get them often) was after the bushing rotted out, if 'chaffing' could have scored the line. Although probably not leaking in this location (that clamp), jacking it up and sliding under with a very bright light source and a couple rags should help (don't forget to place jack stands for safety). Given how many have successfully done the trans connector leak fix, your in good company to have it fixed quickly with all the help available, and at a very low cost.

Thanks guys!! You've helped me to rest easy tonight! I cannot find a mechanic who will touch my car in my area. Even a German auto shop called auto werks refused to touch it because it has a Mercedes motor (and all I was asking them to do was use their transmission dipstick to check the level.) It's great that you've taken time to respond. Much love and good vibes are being sent your way!
Now wish me luck on this post catalytic O2 code reading lean on bank 2. I'm thinking I may have a bad Cat.
