Recommended fuel filter/pressure regulator
I think it's time to change my fuel filter/regulator (77,000 miles) as a preventive measure to ward off problems. My Crossfire is a 2005 NA coupe with standard engine and auto trans. What is the opinion or recommendation for what unit to buy. I've seen prices all over the map. Needswings has what appears to be an original style filter and the same can be said for units found on Rock Auto, Amazon, ebay, and so on. Of course the prices vary considerably. I'd like to know what others have used, and if they have had any problems with their selection. Price is not a big concern because what works, properly, is the prime concern. It's kind of like the oil filter. We all know that the fleece lined filter is the "go to oil filter" In some cases though, we're talking double the price for the fuel filter/regulator. Let me know your experiences, both good and bad, so I only have to do this job once and have it perfect.

Jim,
Go with Needswings...You'll get the right parts. Installed the fuel pump & filter I bought from Needswings several months back on my 2005 Limited.
Parts were OEM. Perfect fit. No hassle. Fast delivery......Well worth the price.
If planning on a DYI install search out some You Tube videos on the process &
Have fun with the factory hose clamps! Good news is they are one time use only!!

Do what so many do - buy the cheapest crap out there and when it fails or does not fit, return it (and pay shipping both ways).
or..................
Pay $10 more for the RIGHT parts at Needwings, install the parts with no hassles, and be DONE with it.

Go to a Mercedes dealership or a car parts store and get a Mann filter #WK720.

Filters and the like can be from many makers it all depends on who quotes the best price and pennies per part count.
Every genuine Mercedes part I have bought has been made from the same manufacturer as the original part.
It can be but not in this case. I have owned my Crossfire for 17 years and have changed the fuel filter regularly. I always have bought a genuine Mercedes fuel filter because they are not very expensive and every single time it has been a Mahle KL 82.

Or Mercedes owns Mahle.
Ronman - At what frequency in miles do you regularly change your fuel filter? For me, that would be interesting to know. Do you notice any difference in performance when you change the filter? Let me know.
Thanks,
Jim
Thanks,
Jim
Hi Jim. I have always changed the fuel filter every 4 years. The owner's manual says every 4 years or 60k miles. I have never noticed a difference in performance.
