Just so you know it is not just a fuel filter. Mercedes was very thrifty and integrated the fuel pressure regulator into the fuel filter which is part of the reason it is not cheap. You can also try Rob at NW I think he carries them too.

Why are you replacing the fuel filter? I've always been under the impression that the fuel filter only needs to be replaced when it's clogged (the engine runs rough). Even a new filer can get clogged by contaminants in the gas.

I won't fault anyone that wants to do things by the book. But sometimes I question the manufacturer's motive for maintenance recommendations as creating business for the dealers. What I said in my previous post was told to me by an independent mechanic that serviced my cars for over ten years.

on most other cars I'd agree with you, I've never changed a fuel filter in a car I've owned. However being that the SRT-6 engine replacement cost is very high, I'd rather be more prone to keeping everything by the book and I mean what's 140 bucks every 50,000 miles.

I'm mainly just concrned with getting the best product since I'm getting it done.

I recently changed mine at 52k miles and there was all kinds of black gunk/stuff that came out of it. I would recommend anyone with higher milage to change it out.
