California... Couldn't pay me to live there. Went through the same thing years ago in MA when they mandated all cars had to meet new emission standards and NO ONE was grandfathered! Those who were able scrambled to register their cars in other states at other addresses with relatives and such and those who couldn't were shafted and had to sell their perfectly good cars to those in more conservative states where that nonsense wasn't going on. Unfortunately, these regulations and rules generally screw the poor who drive older cars and not the rich who can afford to trade in and upgrade to a new car every 3-5 years. I own 3 cars and none of them are newer than 2005. Glad I live where I do and not in California!

I just dont see how they're going to be able to mandate this here. What are they going to tell the automakers? Give us your ecu source code so we can input it into our system and make sure everything matches. Cali does realize the tweak that code year to year etc.
