Engine, Exhaust, Transmission and DifferentialPost questions here that have to do with the engine, cooling system, air intake, exhaust, Transmission and Differential
Hello!
I'm not native English speaker so sorry if you can't understand, if you do not, you can answer me for more detailed explanation.
Well the title says everything, my Crossfire 2004 when I put in parking sounds like a click from below and in addition of that feels like a little hit, from below.
I don't know what could be, and in my city I don't find a good transmissioner (a mechanic that specialize in transmissions, well in México the mechanic divides in different things).
So people of the forum, could you explain me what could be, this issue happened to you? what was?
Re: When I put the parking a click sounds from below
Thunder, the parking brake is a cable that runs to the rear wheels. The parking brakes are drum brakes on the rear hub. You do not need a transmission mechanic. You should jack the car up and see if the cable is too loose, or perhaps it is not routed properly. Do the parking brakes hold the car from rolling on a hill? Do you hear a noise when the car is driven ?

He never mentions the word ‘brake’, I think he means putting it into ‘Park’ it’s an auto.

Thanks for answering me!
When I parking in a little hill and I do not put the brake, the car goes back a little bit and the click sounds. But sometimes (not always) I parking in a straight street and the click sounds and the car goes back a little bit too (sometimes not always).
And I do not hear that sound when the I drive the car only when I parking.
Another question, When I parking in a little hill and I put in reverse sometimes below from the car it hit, Is that normal?
Re: When I put the parking a click sounds from below
When you are going to stop the car and shut off the engine always keep your foot on the brake put the transmission into Park (P) and pull up the hand brake, then turn off the engine.
think the clicking sound you are hearing is from the Park locking mechanism in the transmission. The clicking sound is normal but you should always use the parking brake before shutting off the engine especially if you are on a hill. Never shift into Park even if the car is rolling slightly. This will damage the transmission. Check the owners manual.

Ok, let me check if I understand.
1.- Press brake
2.- Put transmission in Park
3.- Always use the handbrake so pull up
4.- Unpress brake
5.- Shut down the car
All this process to maintain the transmission ok.
Ok, I do not have idea that will help me.
