Hello, please help! I would appreciate any pointers, suggestions, and/or comments. My 2004 Chrysler Crossfire just lost all gas power while driving. We pulled over, tried to jump the battery (turns out that was not it) and had to get it towed. We bought a new battery and that wasn’t it either. When we put the key in and twist, there is no noise or any sign of it trying to turn over. This is odd too, because the mechanic said that it worked for him a couple of times, but then wouldn’t. We still have power to the headlights and interior lights, but that’s about it. Please help!

 

My guess would be a bad RCM (relay control modual).

 

Yup. RCM would be the first thing to replace. $150 right now on Amazon (may be cheaper elsewhere). Plug and play. Start there before you let a mechanic at $100+ an hour start screwing around. Plenty of YouTube uploads on where it is and how to replace.

There's a reason about everyone in-the-know who owns one of these cars keeps a spare in the car all the time. While you're at it, order a spare crankshaft position sensor and a camshaft position sensor and keep those around too (but I don't keep those in the car all the time as I don't keep the tools to change them in the car).

 

I can refurbish your RCM for about a third of the cost of a new one. Hundreds of satisfied Crossfire owners!

DO what I did. Order the part Deepsea21 showed you. AT THE SAME TIME, yank the RCM from the car and ship it to DJ Tighe for rebuilding.
THAT way, you have a spare for the NEXT time this happens. That is what I did, not a month ago, when mine failed.

You can PROVE it's the RCM, do this:
Turn key to START, if the car does NOTHING, let the key return to "ON" and wait 45 seconds.
Do you hear the engine cooling fan warp up to high speed? IF so, the RCM is bad - 100% certainty.
If the fan does not warp up to high speed, we have something else at fault.

 

Good advice! EXACTLY what I did in 2016 when the RCM failed in my 2007 Coupe.

 

Definitely have a spare crankshaft position sensor and RCM. The camshaft sensor which I’ve seen be a problem in these cars almost next to never is your choice but they’re considerably more expensive like 3X more than crank sensor and you’re already buying a RCM. I would spend that money on DJ’s refurbished RCM. His refurbs are better than new IMHO. I’ve seen brand new RCM’s with solder points that look like a child did them.
