Brand New Battery Completely Dead after 2.5 Weeks of Not Driving
Bought a brand new battery July 18th. Didn't drive the car from August 12th - August 29th. I came back, tried to start the car and the battery was completely dead. No radio/interior lights/power windows.
Connect battery to another to get a jump start, battery/radio/lights work. When I turn the ignition the starter clicks, but engine doesn't turn. Since the battery was completely dead, I also tried reprogramming the key, doesn't help.
Thoughts?

Sounds like a poor connection or too light duty jumper cables. It should turn over instantly with a good connection and heavy cables. Might just have to wait for the charger.
Also would not be the first poorly charged or defective new battery- more than likey, just not fully charged.

Could also be a parasitic draw. Closing the trunk is a good idea, never can see when the light is on, another may be the glove box, make sure it's fully closed
Sounds like a draw somewhere as mentioned above.
If your battery is completely dead, a jump start may not work even with the best cables. The current is trying to charge the dead battery and there isn't enough left to crank the starter. Either charge the battery or let the other car connected with cables run (15 -30 minutes) for a while to give the dead battery some life. Your best to get a battery charger - your alternator is designed to keep a battery charged, not recharge it from a dead state. It will work but put your alternator to its fullest output only to shorten its life.
It could be a defective battery, but doubtful.

I don't know about the rest of you. But on my 04 the trunk light goes out in about 20 minutes with the lid open all by itself.
PS so do the interior lights with the doors open.

Another Brilliant thought, Hee Hee
Charge the battery.
Open the hood
Disconnect the negative terminal
Get a 12 light bulb like the old turn signal
Place one bulb terminal on the negative battery post
Place the other light bulb terminal on the negative lead.
If there is a DRAIN the bulb will stay light
the amount of current can be see in the filament, brighter is larger current.
Enjoy, Woody

Also dont forget that leaving a car for 2.5 weeks with the alarm on will drain your battery.
But, it is mad that I have been away so long!
Since I moved to Florida about 1.5 years ago I only drive my Crossfire about once a month or less. It is a 2004 with the original battery. It starts every time with no problems.
PS the alarm is always on.

I ended up getting another battery since it was under warranty. I'm going to take it to the dealership this week to make sure there's nothing draining the battery.
