Default Differential

Does anyone know if the manual and automatic use the same differential?

It is my understanding that the SRTs use a different rear end but that all Base/Limiteds/SEs use the same differential.

I get my information from here:

maybe new news, may be not to all but here it is.,, the srt comes with a 3.07 gear set in the differential, Same housing in both cars the limited comes with 3.27
the auto has to have a TCU (transmission control unit) and the srt tcu will not work in the limited car ,,same for the,, limited only works in limited . ,, unless reprogrammed to fit into the different car, ,, any of my diff will fit, no tcu required into std shift cars
I have a few differentials for auto and or std shift cars auto with TCU 2.86 3.07, 3.27, 3.45,,3.68,,and 3.90 ,,bolt in turn key ,,,keep your stock diff and tcu these same diffs will fit into std shift cars no tcu required

I just bought this XF, my 4th. It only has 47k miles. After driving it back 1200 miles from the dealer, I have a whine in the diff. Mine is an 04 with auto. Now I need to find a used diff somewhere.

I have several, but shipping would be cost prohibitive. Where are you located?

all limited crossfires come with 3.27. the srt6 comes with 3.07 if someone wants better gas mileage then install a lower Number diff . jim
