Head gasket
Hello. Does anyone know where I could find a head gasket kit, that would have gaskets for both sides, and the intake? Also, I've found a low mileage engine for around 500 dollars or so. Would it be cheaper to put in a different engine or to just replace the head gaskets
It would be cheaper to drop in another motor honestly. Your talking about a semi engine rebuild if doing a headgasket plus you'd need to send the heads off to make sure they're not warped.
You can find headgaskets and everything else you need at fcpeuro. https://www.fcpeuro.com/Mercedes~Ben...=10&d=16734&v=

That's sort of what I figured, the engine has some scoring in the cylinders and has over 200k on it. And I pretty sure the last owner was not very kind to it. Where would someone find procedures to pull the engine? I've only pulled one other engine, and it was on a pt cruiser when I was in college, so I don't think it'd be smart to do it without some kind of instruction
It's pretty straight forward. Just take pics with your cell phone as you remove the old one. You might try a search on U-tube? It would be pretty much the same as a Mercedes SLK 320.
I've done some more research and as long as the head and block aren't warped it would be cheaper to just replace the head gasket. Coolant hasnt leaked into the oil. Its just leaking compression. Im gonna pull the heads and check before I buy anything just to be sure. What else should I be checking when I do pull the heads? How much scoring is acceptable, and how do tell?

I just wanted to post and update on this thread. I've gone the route of pulling the heads, I found that it is actually cheaper then replacing the engine. I'll be spending a couple hundred to maybe a thousand or a little over. Which Is much better than the 5k I was quoted to do the engine, most of which is parts cost, considering I work at the shop and would get a hefty discount on the labor. I would do it myself but I would still.be spending close to 4k on parts, not to mention equipment I'd have to buy. Overall I've found in my situation it's better to just do the head gaskets
