motor grinding noise
Have a 05 croosfire convertible. High oil light started coming on. When I was driving up hill started making a grinding noise. When I tried to restart still makes a grinding noise and slow turning over. Would not start has 55,000 miles on car little over 2500 on oil change. Any advice?

The good news is if it was turning, it's not frozen. The noise could be anything, water pump, alternator, idler pulley, etc. You might want to remove the drive belt and spin all of the pulleys and see if any are stuck or make a grinding noise.
If it's the alternator it will kill your battery and you won't have enough power to crank the engine.
Have you checked the actual oil level with the dip stick?
This will tell you for sure if the oil level is high, you might not have any oil, or if it's at the correct level your oil sensor might be bad. You won't be able to do this until you get the engine running again.
If it reads high you can unscrew the filter and use a vacuum pump to remove some of the oil. Start with a half quart and take another reading. Keep doing this until it hits the normal area.
The more information you can give us the better the response will be.
I marked the pulleys and turn the car over, all pulleys were turned. Not sure where the noise coming form in motor. Been afraid to turn it over too much that I cause more problems. Was going to pull vales cover off to see if turning with crankshaft. Also was going to pull belt and check all pulleys seperate.
Thanks

Your signature doesn't include the town you're located in Kansas. As a result, the attached link below is a shop that is located in Kansas and works on Mercedes Benz cars. You may want to call them and discuss your issues with your Crossfire, since it's 80% Mercedes Benz. Hopefully the shop is within towing distance.
Good luck in your attempt to get your Crossfire back on the road.

Dennis
