Default Replacing Manual Trans backup light switch - how difficult?

Good day, everyone. My 06 Limited w/ 6 speed has both backup lights out. The bulbs are good and all other rear lights function properly. This seems to point at a failure at the backup light switch. Can anyone give me a sense of difficulty on replacing this switch? Looking at various under-car photos posted on this site, it looks like access to the switch might be blocked by a transmission mount bracket. Can anyone confirm this bracket is a problem, or if I can actually get to the bolt and switch without having to get the bracket out of the way? Removing the transmission mount would vastly complicate this job for me! Thanks in advance for anyone's experience with this fix!

First, know that backup lamps are only powered when the key is ON.
Second, make sure Fuse 4 in the ICM is OK.

If the above is OK, the backup lamp switch (in cars with manuals) is a one-bolt job, there is nothing in the way.

Here's a link for the part and if you click on the diagram below the part, it shows the location.
It should be a very easy job. Good luck!

Thanks, pizzaguy. I really appreciate your advice. I did check with ignition set to ON. I will take a close look at fuse 4 this evening. The service manual seems to indicate that fuse 4 also controls rear directionals and taillights, and all of those are working properly. But it is an easy check, I will take a look anyway. Your info on bolt access is much appreciated, that was the thing that had me worried. I have a switch coming in from FCPEuro, if the fuse 4 check doesn't solve the problem I will take photos of the switch replacement and add them here.

Thanks much for this link, I appreciate it! I did find the part at FCPEuro, I hope to have it in my hand by the weekend and if I can I will post some photos of the process on this thread afterwords.

Simple 10 minute job to replace the back up light switch on our manual transmission
That's is what I needed to in September 2023
