Unhappy Sprint Booster or Sprint Loser?

Finally got round to fitting a Sprint Booster - or is it Sprint Loser?
As for the results - Im very dissappointed, Its made a slight improvement to throttle response in the mid range when I want to drive hard, but it dos'nt pull away from standstill any better as the throttle lag is still the same. So for normal driving there is no difference to me. Having read all the hype on this maybe I was expecting too much, but I think they are a waste of money!
As for fitting it - I did'nt bother to remove the gas pedal, or anything else. I just just used a flat screw driver to pull the little tabs away that secure the connector in place, and separate the connector off the top of the gas pedal, connected the s.b. to it, and then connected the other end with the big grey plastic moulding on it, and tucked it all away behind the panel above the pedal. I could not see the requirement to remove the pedal, although of course it would make the job less fidley than it was for me.

Cheers, Steve

Could there be something wrong with your SB? I know I see a definite improvement in my throttle response coming off a standstill.

Defective SB? Has anyone ever heard of a problem with a SB other than Steve? I'm considering a purchase of a SB and certainly don't want to be disappointed with not getting what I thought I was paying for.

Unhappy Re: Sprint Booster or Sprint Loser?

Just checked the connections and still the same, its not as if its a complex piece of kit. Think I'll remove and refit it so I can assess it again from scratch, may have to return it for an exchange. Thanks for all your input guys, has anyone elso got any ideas?
Cheers
Steve

Cool Re: Sprint Booster or Sprint Loser?

You may need to reset your throttle it may help, see the the thread below. I have no issues with my SB as yet.

https://www.crossfireforum.org/forum...reset+throttle

1. Turn the ignition key to the on (not start) position.

2. Press the gas pedal to the floor and hold for five seconds.

3. Turn the key to the "off" position (don't remove the key), then release the gas pedal.

4. Wait at least two minutes for ECU to reset.

Steve...Don't miss around..just return it for an exchange and once fitted that will answer all the questions. Like all the other post, I found and instant improvment and it change my the whole driving experience. A thought, I wonder if its manufactured by a different company? I recall you purchased from the UK. worth checking out.

Hi Ken - This was supplied by Sprint Booster UK, the official uk distributors and is orginal product from Greece. However, I think I've solved the prob! As kindly advised by our USA based forum buddies, It seems, for some reason, my ECU didnt detect the presence of the gadget. So before giving up on it I went through the following process;
1: remove the S.B. to and confirm it as inoperative.
2: do the throttle reset proceedure, and again no difference.
3: refit the S.B. again no difference
4: do the throttle reset again with S.B. fitted: results = WOW - NEARLY SHREDDED MY REAR TYRES!

It appears that the throttle reset done with it fitted did the trick! ( but Im not sure why )
It may be a step for everyone to do this after fitting the S.B. ?
Cheers for now
Steve

I just want to say thanks after struggling for two hours to remove that poxy washer yesterday while trying to fit my Sprint Booster I read your post on the Brit way of fitting it and it took ten minutes (guess it may be easier on right hand drive cars).
Just got back from a quick ride loads of fun made a real difference
Thx
Steve

I just installed a sprint booster (5 days ago) on my SRT-6. The car became a monster, especially from a standstill. However, I got the BDD451A version, NOT the toned down one (BDD451A2). Maybe that's the issue for you. Which SB did you get?

I got to ask. Did it become a good monster or a bad monster? Did it make the car easier or harder to operate, especially in traffic. Sometime a gas pedal that is too touchy is not a good thing.

Ah' where theres a will there's a way (or something like that) glad it worked for you as well, allthough its a bit of a fiddle doing it without removing the pedal it took me about en mins, also its worth doing the reset routine on the pedal, as I had to do this to get my S.B. working. I fitted the BDD451A for autos. Takes a little getting used to, I burnt off a tank of petrol in no time after id fitted it, but now mt mpg has settled down again.
Cheers for now!
Steve.
ps hope to see you in JULY, do you think you may be on for it?
Get some polish on that cool roadster of yours and show it off!

Glad to see everyone is enjoying their Sprint Boosters. If you are interested I can do a one time offer for UK members only.

If you can get 10 people interested (any model Sprint Booster) I can do 295.00 shipped.

First ten people have access to this, and then it is closed. The product must ship to an UK address though.

PM me if interested.

the car became very responsive from a standstill. once you get used to it, its fun. i always drove sports cars, so i am used to aggresive driving. SB turns a luxury car into a sports car. it all depends how you drive. there is zero lag from a standstill, while in motion the lag was significantly reduced, but when the engine kicks in the RPMs are pushed further. the SB to me was a good compromise for SRT-6 not being manual. many people said that the toned down version was not worth the money, however, it all depends how you drive the car.

Ah thats a shame - well you know where we are if your plans do change, we could have a mini-meet-up before then anyway! Good to hear you got on with the SB ok, takes a little getting used to I must say, and reeks havock with your mpg if you dont back off the throttle, oh and the tyres< well dont even talk about it!
All the best mate
Steve
