No mate the hood went in ok its the rear shelf bit on its way down i heard a unfamiliar crunch when i got out and looked back the n/s coloured flap was still tucked under o/s one was in the right place on playing with the cables on both sides the n/s one feels very tight as if its siezed looks like a poor idea to me cable looks easy enough to change but mine has got just over 10k miles no problems before with it going to ring them next week its out of warranty on the 18th going for MOT tomorrow dont use it much hence the mileage have a couple of bikes which i would rather use cheers ronnie

Another UK roadster owner had an identical problem recently. Search for it, as he may provide some insight to the issue?

Here you go, mate!

Seems to be a consistant problem with benz cable systems.

I have had issues on three sedans with the moonroofs. Each case was a failure to lube.

So....
I'm going to get off my butt and go do mine on the Xfire.

Thanks for the info guys. Always a pleasure to hear from friends in the UK

I have seen this topic of lubricating the cable on the convertible mechanism but have no idea what cable to lube and what lubricant to use. Can someone please post a pic?

Motorweek tv show had a regular segment called Goss's garage that had a really good description on how and what to lubricate on the convertible top. Also mentioned the best lubricants in their oppinion. Segment was on the 2009 benz sl & the 2009 Nissan Murano crossover so it should be back on. It's on the speed channel in my area.

^^^^^ Thanks, that link to YouTube was really helpful to me and answers a lot of questions that I had. Lithium grease for the moving parts and silicone spray for all the rubber parts.
