Default UK audio and warranty question

I have had my xf roadster for two weeks now – love the car but I really really hate the factory audio system – It is getting me down. So off I go to buy the audio system that I want. What I really want is a DAB radio that plays MP3’s (SD card reader would be an advantage) with a steering column control (even my wife’s 98 c**p rover has a steering column audio control). Blokie at the audio shop (Halfords – I played it safe) then tells me that any new head unit may well invalidate xf warrantee for some technical reason (something to do with changing factory wiring).

Can someone who has replaced the factory audio (I am sure lots of you have as it is ****) give me any advice of what is best to buy and how to avoid messing up the Chrysler warrantee. Any help would be very much appreciated.

There still is life around here.

I got a JVC head unit from Halfords just before Christmas and had it put in by them. They needed to order a antenna adapter to connect the radio to the Crossfire antenna. They couldn't find one so had the factory unit put back in and have not bothered about changing it since.

Let us know how Halfords sort yours out if you let them install it. You may have to hot-wire it yourself or get another audio shop to do it.

I put the Alpine in mine with my ipod in the glove box. The Alpine has full control over the ipod and sounds awesome! No need to chop the loom though, it just plugs in. I wouldn't let Halfords loose on my car though, went to a specialist audio centre.
