rear towing eye
hi folks!
just joined this forum and its looks like there are a lot of knowledgeable people here. I have a 2005 Roadster, which was unfortunately towed for the first time (since I have owned it). I wasn't around when it was towed (parked in the wrong spot), and it appears that the rear towing eye (on the passengers side) is extended where it wasn't before. But when I take a look down there it seems in a fixed position. Does anyone know if it extends when towed and how to get it pushed back in if so? Or am I imagining things? many thanks!

The "tie down loop" isn't supposed to move.
According to the flat bed driver that carried my car to the shop when it wouldn't start last year, it's not supposed to be trusted for securing the car down on the flat bed either.
If the person (who towed your car) used the loop to "drag" your car into a position so they could hook it up to a tow truck , they may have stretched the loop out of shape

I do believe the tow hooks are used to tie down the car during the boat trip and on the car carriers. I have not witnessed a Crossfire, but many other European cars use the same kind of hooks for just that purpose. I think the tow truck driver was just being over cautious.
Paint the rear hook flat black and you will not notice it anymore.

ha ha. I think you are right. I looked more closely at some old pix and I can see it. Good to get confirmation from other owners though. I guess I am still stressed from being towed!

Are you aware of the tow-away alarm button on your console? See page 174 of your owner's manual.
Better yet, park where you won't get towed.
