Default Windshield Wiper Replacement

I noticed that the wiper blades were not doing the job as they should and I decided to replace them. There are two options, replace the whole wiper blade assemblies or replace just the blades.
I opted to replace the blades which is easy to do and much cheaper, why throw away good parts when just replacing the blades costs less than a quarter of the cost of total replacement.
You will probably have to cut the rubber of the old blades to remove them from the blade holder, then cut the replacement blades to length. Remember that the new length may be different from the old length as you have to allow for the clips that hold the blade in position, a bit too long is better than too short.
Thread the new blade through the retainers and use the new clip to gage the new length required, mark the length, remove and cut to length. Thread the new blades down the holder and snap on the retaining clips.
The blades you purchase must be the correct width, narrow is the OEM size. Buy good quality blades and you are set for another year or so depending on the usage and climate. Sun and ozone are killers of rubber.
Remember that the blade with the spoiler goes on the driver side, it actually is the shortest blade on my car.

Drivers side is 20"
Passenger 22"

Getting harder to find just the refills. More $$$ to be made by selling the whole blade.

You've got that right, with the whole assembly close to $20 a piece, less than $8 for two blades is a bargain.

I like the new style wipers, they hug the glass better.
I try to clean the blade when I wash the car.
I use Alcohol pads (no not the kind you drink)
Like when you get a shot (no again)
It makes the blade last longer...

I simply went with the best...Bosch Icons. Going on my 3rd year with the original blades and no wear or tear yet. Well worth the cost!

Do NOT get Rain-X Latitude wipers, they don't work at all on the curve of our windshields...ask me how I know.

I would second the Icons as the best wiper I have ever used. I have used them for years with no troubles and great life, but this last time, I tried the extremely similar bosch marathon wipers, claiming double the life of the Icon and less money. Simply put, they may last longer, but they are rubbish and streak the glass terribly (that started in the first few months). Yes, they are cheaper, but still expensive, for wiper blades, and I would not recommend anyone to use them....
