Default Mirror...What the Heck did I do ???

I had some scratches on my side mirror, looked like the PO may have had blind spot mirrors and took a razor blade to remove.
I tried to polish the scratches with a plastic polish and cut right through the coating !!!
I cant believe this !!!
can I buy replacement mirror glass...plastic...whatever this is ?

My only thought is to cover it up with a blind spot mirror.

Nope, He decided to keep it so I bought another.

back to the task at hand.
I see some people have good results with the multivex mirror.
Anyone have a picture of one installed on the Drivers side ?
This looks like my best option.
What is it with the "glass" on these mirrors, I have never seen the reflective coating on the outside which looks like what I polished off.

The mirror is one of the few parts I have not taken apart so I can't help there, but if you can remove the glass, I would look for a used one and pop it in. With as many of these as you see on ebay through LKQ, I would think you could find just the glass. Just a thought.

heh,heh funny guy

I'm wondering if I cut through an anti glare coating or something.
I picked up a 2 inch spot mirror, thats what I was going to do if I couldnt get the scratches out anyway.
If anyone has a picture of the multivex mirror installed, I would appreciate it.

If I had to drive mine very much with the top up, I'd have a BSM on mine! Even thought of making up a rubber-bandy thing to put the BSM on for times when the top is up, so I'm not forced to leave it on all the time.

I found a set of 2 inch mirrors with a thin aluminum frame instead of the black plastic like Autozone or Advenace sells. I pollished the aluminum up like chrome and they dont look half bad. I can really see the usefullness, especially with the top up. I think I'm good to go.

Good news on getting the mirror problem fixed. About your post on the rear bumper damage you were going to attempt to fix, let the pro's fix it !! I'd hate to see what you would do to that rear bumper !! How far are you from Hendersonville NC? A few members are nearby maybe we can get together if the weather holds out.
