Default Remove wax before applying decals?

Did a search with no luck. I did however get sidetracked with other interesting topics! But still no luck

It is to my understanding that wax (which I apply often) is a temporary sealant layer over the clear coat. With that being said - if I applied my new SRT badges right above the side strakes, will they fall off in time as wax wears and strips off - should I first remove the wax layer, and stick the decal on the actual clear coat?

If so what can be used to safely remove a small portion of wax on then car?

I also want to add slasher stripes - remove wax for those too?

Thanks!
Albert

~ the product to remove any wax on the paint surface is rubbing alcohol.

IMO - The best stuff for removing the wax on a car's finish are products typically referred to as 'Prep Sol". These are acryllic solvents that nearly all reputable body shops use to remove wax, polish, silicone, tar, dust etc. from body parts before painting. They won't harm your paint/clearcoat and it's handy to keep some around in your car stuff. You'll find it at most auto parts stores, even the self-service ones (i.e., AutoZone, Advance Auto, Pep Boys, etc.).

Later,

remember, the wax is already on when you lay something over it, so it will still be under it no matter what you do. I put my decals and such, and stripes over what i brung to the dance and it's still there just fine.

I'd prefer placing my decals and badges OVER the polish and wax - so that if I do plan to remove the decal/badge - it won't harm the original paint as much. For those with professional or personal experience, please advice if it is okay to place them OVER the polish/wax

Thanks!

If it is something that I know will never be removed, I clean off the wax. If it is a mod or something that I 'might' take off one day, I wax the area first b4 applying. Right or wrong, it has worked for years.
