Just a heads up on those side-emitting thin LED strips. I had a pair of them from lightingnext, and I tried using as my first attempt and they are VERY finicky if you decide to cut any of them off the end where it says you can (usually ever 3 lights). I tried doing that with mine to make them fit and one strip would only work if it was bent a certain way and the other only half worked. If you do decide to get those make sure you get a length where you dont have to cut them to size, or you might have problems and be wasting money.

Got mine from Lexen123 on flebay don't waste your time. After doing all the wiring they didn't stick worth a darn. Yes I cleaned the lens and followed the instructions to the letter. They say 3m tape but I don't think so. Even when I took them out of the package the stick stuff was separating from the lights. Waste of time and money.

I can't locate the "little rubber dam with a slit in it for pushing the wire through"
would you have a photo?
thanks

I grounded the neg - wire of each LED strip using crimp on ring terminals that I put under some existing bolts on the main lower crossmember behind the front grill. I spliced the two pos+ wires behind the front grill and ran a single wire up the driver side into the fuse box in the engine compartment. When you remove the fuse box cover there is another cover that is held in by tabs on the front and both sides. Once it is removed you will see a couple of main terminal studs right up in the end of the fuse box closest to the firewall. The one in the right corner closest to the fender is live when the key is turned to ON. You can enter the fusebox with your wire on the side closest to the fender as there is a little rubber dam with a slit in it for pushing the wire through. I used an inline fuseholder and crimped on a ring terminal so that it could be added to the stud terminal. Don't drop the nut on the stud terminal into the bottom of the fusebox (I DID) and had a hell of a time fishing it out with a probe magnet.
I used a 2AMP fuse which was the lowest rating I had. These lights draw very little so keep the fuse size low to protect the circuit.
As always, disconnect the neg - terminal on the battery before starting the job.
Also, a little advise when installing the LED Lighting Strips : Make sure the headlight assembly is clean and apply some rubbing alcohol to the area where you will be applying the LED strips. It is best to warm the LED strips up a little before you stick them onto the headlight assembly. I layed mine flat across a forced air heat register in the house and ran the furnace for 15 minutes to make them more plyable for going around the tights corners. I took them out to the garage for installation one at a time when ready to install. Mine stuck really well and have not moved. When installing the LED strips, I was very careful not to touch the adhesive side of the strips and only peeled a little of the paper backing at a time.

I have added some pics of the connection point in the fuse box :

http://i40.tinypic.com/350a39h.jpg View of the stud terminal in the back right corner. You can see my new ring terminal with the blue insulation. This stud is live with the key turned ON.

http://i41.tinypic.com/29w742c.jpg Just another view of same. Black rubber in-line fuse holder can be seen.

http://i44.tinypic.com/zilzip.jpg You can see the black wire enters the fuse box along side the rubber dam.

The photo is the third picture in that post.
If you can see the electrical post then you can see the dam.

Wow. That's pretty awesome

Is there a specific brand you used? Mounted inside or out?
Separate switch or wired into the light switch?

Any additional images available?

I bought them off of eBay
2x White 60cm 60leds Audi Style Side Emitting
I found the strip that has the most side LED's per length. This strip has an LED every centimeter and most of the others only have half that many.
They are mounted on the outside edge of the headlights and time will tell how well they stay. But for less than $15 I thought I would give them a try.
I wired them to the terminal that is only hot when the ignition is on, so no having to remember to turn them on.

When I turn on the head lights the daytime lights and the running head lights do not come on but the high beams come on when I push them on. Any ideas? All other running lights come on.
Thanks Paul

Have you made any modifications (adds/deletes) prior to this problem?
Are the headlights and running lights in the same unit, both sides?

Checked the lamps and fuses?

Next basic question
Have you checked for power at the light?
(Line power)

Did you check both fuses 6 & 8?

Update. More than three months, driving in rain and automatic car wash, they still work and have not come loose.

Where did you connect the electrical? I want wire to shine when ignition is on.

The yellow wire to the radio is live with the ignition on, the red wire to the radio is live all the time.
There are two posts in the main fuse box also similarly powered.
