DTinker is correct. simply switching to red will give you a nasty purplish color because it is not the bulbs that give it the green color, the actual overlay has green integrated into the piece. Apparently to change the color, you need to remove the entire cluster, take it apart, remove the overlay, and very gently sand off the green coloring, then replace the bulbs.

oh well crap that doesn't sound to fun yeah im figuring out everything on the crossfire is a big pain to work on.

I took them out to the garage for installation one at a time when ready to install. Mine stuck really well and have not moved. When installing the LED strips, I was very careful not to touch the adhesive side of the strips and only peeled a little of the paper backing at a time.
