FEELER: SRT-6.com groupbuy ViS Racing carbon fiber hood for $500-$650 USD
Re: FEELER: SRT-6.com groupbuy ViS Racing carbon fiber hood for $500-$650 USD
Thanks for the comments. I have already sent them off. I will start building a real list now, not just a feeler. The prototype design will we the waldig+firepower+srt-6.com mix. Last design is always shown in first post.
I will start a new thread tomorrow and only add people to the list who will send me their full details. If we then can come up to the right number we are launching this. Then Fred will be needing a SRT-6 with DCAI to go down there. I recieved a letter by Steve B, member here, who are willing to go there and let them do some measurements. I also have a srt-6 hood that they will make the mold of.

Good question! Kinda determines whether I'm shopping Zales or Walmart for the wife..

Okay.. "Just to make sure".. this is where we are at..correct..? And I'm going to guess this new "list" will still allow an out (respectable out..LOL) if the design for whatever reason takes an undesirable turn? Oh..and see if there is a cheaper shipping (2 in one double box) at the same Address..

So believe it or not I may have come up with a smart idea. take a look at the pictures and let me know your thoughts..

By doing this we will have maximum function and good design. the raising of the hood in the back will me max ½ inch, just enough to let air run out.
Hit me with some feedback.
P.S. rearview without the reverse scoop.

The heat extraction from that mid reverse scoop would be immense. Also, it will be minimal changes to the design. Take another look at the pic below.

Les, meh, miata, and you other guys. Are we willing to sacrifice the gains/functions for due to design? This one is up for you to decide now. Either the firepower vents with spine AND the reverse scoop OR simply just the firepower vents with spine.
What do we prefer?

But confirm the above and we will dump the idea totally and just go for the firepower spine vents.

Air will get sucked back down into the engine not pulled out, there is a high pressure system that is created by the windshield. Since there is a seal on the back of the hood no air escapes from the rear out and over, instead it goes down and under the car. If you vent the rear with hopes of air escaping it simply will not happen unless you are not moving, then it will in fact escape from the rear. The further forward you move them as long as they are behind the radiator the better your chances of air escaping becomes. The best way to effect cooling of he engine is to get air to flow through the radiator with the least amount of restriction. This includes pressure systems, vent the front so air flows through the radiator and out the hood is the best method for this.

My observations are exactly what Hustler said. I've run with the rubber strip removed, belly pan removed, both removed etc. Anything over barely moving and air will enter instead of exit. The nose of my car lifts at high speed and allowing air to enter at the base of the windshield only made it worse. Float it past VIS for your peace of mind, I'm sure of the answer. If the final design has it, I'll plug it.

well if I write above that his answer is good enough for me no need even to ask. I am skipping it. I am updating the first post as we speak.
