Default Hatchback/Decklid wiring connections - where are they?

I need to swap a damaged decklid. I bought a used one, and it has the wiring cut right by the hinges.

Are the connectors hidden under the headliner?

Thanks
Shawn

Of course there are - think about how the car was built. As the body parts are assembled, the wiring harness (which is actually several harnesses plugged together) is placed in the assembled body parts. Who ever cut those wires did not do you any favors.

But you CAN do this I'd use solder and insulative heat shrink tubing to mate the ends - but you COULD use solder and tape or even those awful crimp connectors if you can be sure the area will remain dry and no corrosion is going to get started in the crimps.

Can't I just remove the harness from the damaged part, and put it in the 'new' part?

That was my plan. I'm just trying to find out where the connectors terminate before I go and start pulling off interior pieces.

Thanks for the quick reply.

The electrical schematics do not show any connectors in the wires so I imagine that if the plugs on the wires will pass through the corrugated hose at the top of the hatch that that is the way to go. You could test that on the new door you have, Do not forget the hose for the hatch lock, you should replace that or at least the part of it that is inside the car and that should stop the hose breaking inside the corrugated hose and leave you with a locked hatch. Use polyurethane hose for replacements.

I follow you. I'll look at that. It should work (they had to get them in there some how!)

I may pull the headliner down and verify since.i have a lot of the trim removed already anyway.

I bought JesseJamesSRT's car. Trying to get it back to its former glory.
