Windscreen upper trim
I have a couple of patches on the windscreen upper trim that is losing its clear top finish, not the silver base
What would you guys recommend? Is it possible to remove the trim, remove all of the top finish somehow and reapply a spray top coat?
Any advice appreciated.

There are two options to repaint the windshield surrounds:
- Do it yourself, including the removal (DO NOT use a screwdriver, may crack the windscreen) with plastic removal tools, and review the complete steps taken in the attached thread
- Take the car to a glass replacement shop and have them remove the 3 parts and have them reinstall them after you paint them.
- A body shop should charge you about 100 pounds to professionally paint the parts.

When I was having my windshield replaced, I preferred to remove the surround trim myself for two reasons.
First, I wanted to learn how to do it because I enjoy working on my car.
Second, I was worried that the windshield technician might break the trim, or not reattach it well enough and the center piece might fly off at high speed.
While I was doing it I made a post of how I did it. There are many detailed pictures with captions.
