Does anyone have a circuit diagram or detailed information about the MOPAR Illuminated Door Sills? I have a copy of the installation instructions but they don’t provide very much detail.
I recently bought a car that has a genuine set of Sills fitted, but they don’t work. When I went to try and fix them I found one of them disconnected from its harness and the other one had short circuited wiring (it has been carelessly installed and the wiring to it was crushed across the top of the metal flange beneath the Sill). I fixed the short circuit and plugged the other Sill back in and still nothing worked.
The connections are very basic (5 wires in total);
1. A wire to each door light switch (to pick up a ground when the doors are opened). The two wires are joined together and provide a ground for a big yellow relay looking thing under the dash.
2. The yellow relay thing is also supplied with a constant 12V.
3. The output of the yellow relay is two wires back to each of the Sill panels (they are connected in parallel).
What I’m trying to work out is what that Yellow relay thing is (I’ve attached a photo) as I think it’s stuffed. Is it some sort of solid state relay that won’t load up the door switch signal too much, or is it an electroluminescent inverter? Does anyone know?

Door Sill Device
The ballast/ inverter has failed.
Tou can replace the light stip and inverter. Everything you need is available on ebay
there is also a post on this form from Timelord about changing the colour. Same process to replace or to change colour.
It took me a few hours to do both sides. These components are 20 years old and many are starting to fail
electroluminescent tape 24” x 1” with inverter (60cm x 2.5 cm)
lots of sellers.
I did this in 2017 and they are still working.
Thanks for the information. I've found a similar inverter that's used in BMW's, I'm going to give that a try first (I'll report back if it works or not). If it doesn't work then I'll do as you suggest and replace everything.
