"Lancia could also be set to get a variant of the Chrysler Crossfire replacement"..... Wow, that is very interesting. We will have to keep our eyes open on this one. That could mean a greater availibility of parts for us. On the other side..... it could deminish our exclusivity. Very interesting.

my bet is that it won't happen, or it'll be so vastly different as to be a different car completely. the reason: they only sold 78,000 of them in all production years, the Cross wrongly got panned across the board, and you would want to recreate this why? Nah. It won't happen. That would say that ahh, lancia knows how to market this car, where MB did not. i don't believe it for a minute.

The key is "replacement". Although it might affect exclusivity, it would be nice to have the Crossfire name still on a vehicle. From a resale veiwpoint it could help to have a "current" model even though it was different.

Actually I would like to see what the designers at Lancia would come up with. A little Italian flair on a car that is almost exotic could be very nice. If they go further upscale with it (and keep the production numbers down to realistic levels), it could be a very good thing indeed.

Not bad logic, BUT...

Is it not CHRYSLER that failed to market the product?

True, but it won't be the SAME Chrysler. Let's hope the new guys do a better job. The CEO of Fiat did a great job with them after taking over, in fact he just fired two of the top people at Chrysler. From what I read, he is a very results oriented leader.

It also makes you wonder if Lancia would bring Karmann back into the mix. Is Karmann still solvent? Hmmm... guess I need to look that up. I have not heard any updates on them lately. It would be nice to see a Chrysler/Lancia/Karmann collaboration. I agree that a little Italian flair could be something to behold on the XF.

Ok, I checked on Karmann.... Looks like they will survive, albiet with a new focus. Uggg!

"Volkswagen has struck a deal worth at least 10 million euros with Wilhelm Karmann GmbH to keep the insolvent coachworks and specialty builder alive so it can reorganize a new company and focus on building electric-powered cars." Source

Whatever happened to the Dodge Demon concept that came out in 2007? Would that be the "replacement"?

not really Pizza. MB held ALL the pursestrings, and had a dickens of a time trying to figure out how to market the Cross while charging an arm and a leg for their SLK 320, which was basicaally the same car. The Cross was the ******* child to the fold, and Chrysler USA HAD to go to Papa benz to do anything. So, there was no real marketing. And Lancia certainly won't give free rein to Chrysler to do what they want with their branding either. It'll be more of the same, which I understand, but still, Chrysler won't be able to do anything more than what they did under Benz tutelage.

based on all the models, it appears that the entire Chrysler company and subsequent models are now given to Lancia. Interesting. The sebring, the Voyager and the 300 all there.
