Default A tale of 2 cities...

Hiroshima - 64 years later....

Hiroshima 1945...

We all know that Hiroshima & Nagasaki were destroyed in August 1945 after the explosion of atomic bombs.
However, we know little about the progress made by the people of that land during the past 64 years.

Sigh.... If only Truman were still around..... Maybe we could convince him to do an atomic revitalization of Detroit. LOL

an apology - it would appear that I've been spoofed on the details of the above It IS a Japanese city just not either Hiroshima or Nagasaki

Hoaxes and Urban Legends: Hiroshima 64 years later (is actually Yokohama)

It is bizarre someone would go to the time to make a fake like that. Seems like a bit of a waste.

One of my favorite fake emails was the old one going around where mars was going to get so close to us that it would appear nearly as big as the moon in the sky. I knew a lot of people that got excited about that.

But your statement about the progress they have made still stands. While there have been economic setbacks in Japan, they HAVE built quite an economic machine.

They are also a country that is concerned with the average person... music plays at traffic lights to tell the blind when it is safe to cross... etc.

Yup...another case of fair reporting here I can see.

I notice you only post pictures of the bad things in Detroit.....there's no mention of the new Riverfront project, new ballpark or football field, Greektown, the new casino's, or any of the new Housing that's being built.

I'm sure that you all live in perfect utopias that have absolutely no abandoned buildings or housing, and the streets are all paved with gold. I'm sure that there's absolutely no downtown urban blight where everyone else comes from......it's only here in Detroit.

But you have to admit, Detriot has been a "hole" for decades. I remember going to the Federal Building in the 70's for my FCC exams. I made at least 5 trips up there over the years with the guys from the radio club.

As we drove down Michigan Ave, I saw the side streets blocked, looked like a war zone. Disabled cars sitting sideways in streets, buildings nearly falling down (or looking like they were about to), etc. Sure, Detroit has alwyas had nice areas - but WOW what slums!!

And yes, I know, Pittsburgh is just as bad - probably many large cities in the USA and elsewhere. But think of the tax dollars that come from all over Michigan that are poured into that city - and down a rat hole. If you live there, and even if you ARE in a good area - many of YOUR tax dollars are going down a hole!!!
