have fun. I just got back from 2 weeks in Munich & the Austrian Alps. I wanted to go to Stuttgart for the Mercedes & Porche museums, but didn't have time. I did go to the Duetches transportation museum in Munich. There is also the BMW museum & factory in Munich. I could just afford to rent a Peugeot 107. A BMW was about 4 times as much. I would have loved to have the Crossfire on those roads in the Alps & on the Autobahn. I just saw 1 Crossfire the whole 2 weeks that I was there.

You will love it. I lived inStuttgart for 3 years. Of course I love Spain also. During the 3 years I lived in Germany, I spent 2 weeks each year in Spain. Most of it at Loret De Mar, in the Costa Brava region. Gotta love the European topless beaches where they wear dental floss for bottoms. LOL

When I lived there, me and some buddies would occasionally rent an exotic car for a day. We would divide the day into even hours for each person, and take turns burning up the autobahn.

I got around Ok not knowing any German. They teach English in the schools, so most people under 40 can speak some English. Everybody that I came in contact with in the hotels, restaurants, car rental places etc. spoke pretty good English.

When I moved to Germany, I did not speak any German. Octoberfest was going on at the time I arrived, so after checking into the hotel, the wife and I got on a train and headed to Munich. Getting there was relatively easy. Many liters of fest brew later, getting back to our hotel in Stuttgart was an adventure in itself.

Eine große Bier bitte

then when you get it

Vielen Dank!

some of the best places to eat are the road side stands. Get a curry wurst und pommes mit mayo.

Some advice if you will allow.

1. no matter what you think about your beer drinking ability, don't ever act as though you can drink the locals under the table

2. if you are going to drive, make sure you have enough Euro's to pay the fine on the spot; if they still allow that

3. if you are going to drive, don't drink because unlike the US, if you do or they suspect it and refuse to take a test, they'll take your blood; again if they still do it that way

4. Take the trains where you can, when we were there, they were very very accurate in Germany, in Italy not so much. Get to Berlin, the city that never sleeps and stay away from the wooden fence in the red light district

5. Enjoy your time and make sure you read the ugly American to understand how not to act.

6. Take good pictures
