Dear Member ‘s I am in the lookout for either the Standard Crossfire or the SRT-6…..as a new member I have been told by my local mechanic [friend of 20yrs] that some of the SRT-6 had problems with the supercharger and some suffered oil leaks……any help would be most appreciated. Thank you. Mike.

As far as "supercharger problems" the only one I'm aware of is that the Bosch intercooler pump tends to die an early death, which in turn disables the supercharger. Basically, the car goes into "limp mode" under these circumstances until the faulty pump is replaced.

Oil leaks are generally around the valve covers if memory serves, which is resolved with new gaskets.

Another common problem is that the automatic transmissions leak from faulty O-rings in the electrical connector.

All of these problems are fairly cheap and easy to resolve. In general these power-trains are very reliable once the few nuisance issues are corrected.

 

Minor stuff as listed above.

BUT do you self a big favor and first thing to do is put in a new battery. These cars are ultra sensative to a poor battery. It will save you hassles.

N/A XF's do have the same leak issues....the intercooler pump is an easy fix...car will still run, just won't have boost since the SC is shut down...now that said, these are minor leaks, with easy how-to's on how to repair them...and not to knock your mechanic friend in any way, but most don't know much about the AMG motor in the SRT...

 

I have the SRT so not real familiar with the NA engine..
Except for the Bosch pump on the SRT, the others seem to be common issues on the NA as well. You could always eliminate the auto trans leak with a manual trans on a NA

But really these are easy and inexpensive fixes.
It is likely the TSB on the trans has been taken care of at this point in a Crossfire.

Oh yeah do not be surprised if the heated seat(s) do not work. I do not care about that one I dont use mine in cold months.

Oil leaks in cars are a very common problem. Irregular maintenance and repair are the prominent reasons behind it. Oil leakage due to loosening of bolts and nuts can be fixed by tightening the bolts. Leakage due to loosening of the oil pan gasket is one of an example in this context. The most common area where oil leaks are found is the valve cover gasket.
The below given steps would tell you how to repair oil leaks in car, when the valve cover gasket is damaged. The first and the most important step is to detach all the breather hoses and spark plugs off the valve cover. Now, just tease the bolts of the valve cover and then remove out the valve cover. Now place on the new gasket

 

Hmmm, Something seems fishy about this...It's not the actual valve cover gaskets that leak but rather the RTV'd top and bottom halves that was is source of the most leaks. If you're a new member, perhaps you should introduce yourself but you've come across in every post as doing nothing but trying to spam the website in your signature. Perhaps I'm wrong but your canned responses which offer very little real information concerning the actual topic seem to reinforce this.

are you sure you are talking about the chrysler crossfire,, because the chevy crossfire injection always leaks somethjhing,, no leake from my srt6, . jim

leaking oil is a big problem. this means that the oil is getting to the spark plugs which will slow the car down and cause starting problems as well a problems accelerating after stops. The gasket is broken or the oil retaining ring needs to be replaces.
