Suggest that the motor needs the compression checked first.
That should get you going. If you have fuel and spark it aughta make noise, the lifters are without oil and collapsed, thus no valve action.
Crank for 30 seconds and wait 60, repeat and it ill start up. Woody

It turns out that this is what is wrong!
Unfortunately, not in a repairable way. I now know what went on last Saturday as I went under the light and heard what I thought was the rods clanking... I also know now that the engine DID in fact seize up, the TOP END but not the whole engine. Just got home and checked the cam pulley as a friend hit the starter. The can and belt don't move, and the belt is ripped apart!
As I said, I went under the light saturday evening and....
I heard the engine sound funny, so I pushed the clutch in, the engine quit. At this time, the cam seized up. Upon releasing the pedal, the engine of course turned over, ripping the timing belt apart.
I just checked, the timing gear at the cam won't turn, and the belt is broken - so the engine DID seize up, the cam that is. This explains what I knew all along: the engine, as I crank it, just doesn't SOUND right to me.
I am not in the mood or mindset to try to replace the engine. I have an offer to buy the truck as is and anohter guy wants the (almost new) tires. It's now me, my Crossfire Roadster and the company van. For the time being.
Well, with my discounts and the age of the truck, I THINK it'll only lower my premiums by something like $20 a month.
Anyone gonna ask me how the new drummer is coming along?
