Uh-Oh ... All Systems Haywire.
Uh-Oh ... All Systems Haywire.
Well it finally happened. The alternator bearing has been making noise for a while, yesterday the battery idiot light goes on, and today all systems went crazy. Wing deployed, all idiot lights aglow, radio down, transmission stuck in second. You know the drill. I take it to the stealership tomorrow on warranty.
I have an '05 with original battery (which I intend to replace IF it is bad) but my mechanic (a real Crossfire guy) tells me that the battery idiot light would only come on if the alternator was failing ... not necessarily an indicator that the battery is a goner.
So which is it?
I'd gladly replace the battery, too, but not if the alternator is the only actual problem. Thoughts?

My guess, The dealer tells you it is shot.
Either way, A new battery after this long is a good thing.
I have gotten as many as 9 years on a battery, and as little as 2 years.
