See ya this weekend.
I don't post in the political section (well, I hadn't for a long time), but I DID read it.
If you need a moderator for it, I'd be glad to take the job.

I like diverse opinions and the political forum made you THINK about BOTH sides of a topic.

...and if Franc didn't behave, he'd hear it from me.

Oh hell, give em back their club house! The whining is breaking my heart.

I promise to never ruin the political purity of that section of the forum by posting there again.

If I do, you can just ban me immediately. Seriously.

They can enjoy a homogenous political micro world with no dissenting opinions.

They can't handle the truth! (Nicholson, A Few Good Men)

PS - I never complained about them once (never occurred to me) and I won't start now.
PPS - There, I even got rid of my three manuel trannys in my avatar. I like my pet better anyway.

Don't think I never thought of that , but then you would be under attack for siding with Franc. It can never be an objective view from the opposite side when under frustration...

Dang! I've been away too much. Did not even realize that it was gone. Seeing some of those vitriolic posts was as enjoyable as stepping on a big wad gum on a hot sidewalk.

LOL ... thanks for the thought, FP!

Don't ever think that because I am married to him, that I would always side with Franc.
He would be the first to tell you that I am definitely my own person.

I am very objective and open to viewpoints from all directions.
What I will not tolerate is personal attacks on anyone for their "opinion" no matter what side of the isle.
Vulgar and degrading jokes, pictures and statements about anyone also has no place in healthy discussions.

Tell me your opinion about a TOPIC.
Tell me why you think that way.
That would lend itself to interesting and reasonable discussions.

Put politics back on the menu, I'll do it.

Civility is not a balancing act. It is not hard to judge. Pleasing everyone is hard, yes. But that is not the duty, or the goal, of a MODERATER.

Solomon had no trouble splitting the baby. It was the duty he accepted and he did his duty.

So if not a vote on keeping the political section going, what do you call that little Poll you started a while back on whether or not to close it? You don't want to moderate it but you don't want anyone else to either. So now in this one little place you have managed to kill political speech in America. I know that this is just a car web site and belongs to someone else. But it had a great political section where people could speak their opinion among friends who agreed or disagreed with them, but remained friends. Too bad you all did not read some of the posts on the Constitution you could have learned something, I know I did. I am far richer for the ideas and people I have been exposed to here on the political site, and the Crossfire forum is going to be far poorer without it.

Enjoy.
A good number of us spent time in all of the Sub Forums here. The 10 percenter perps that ruined politics general squatted there. Too bad you cannot check it out. The evidence has been conveniently "deleted."

Many PM's?, then they should have been banned.

How many times did I tell you if I was out of line, kick me out. Set an example and it would improve the Forum.

I found the General section just recently. I thought that since posters in the Coupe section seemed fairly civil, knowledgeable, and helpful concerning the Crossfire, it would be nice to hear their opinions on other topics, such as politics, religion, the economy, etc. , etc. Oh, well...

Oh, did I forget to mention that other than Coupe and Roadster, Politics had more views than any other sub-Forum?

You know I hope the BOD of CICCI are reading this thread. They have an opportunity here while the subject is at issue.

You know with today's trend of "visiting an automobile forum to cast your political views", CICCI should consider a political subforum on their site. Just think of the new memberships they could achieve! This thread alone shows there is a market for it.

The Left wouldn't join because they would think it should be free, and the Right could pat each other on the back all day. No tension really to disrupt the site. CICCI should jump on this quick... oh and why not make a religion subforum while you are at it - have it all

I've only posted on political threads a couple of times. I am however, one who not only enjoyed the reading but also admired the thought that members put into their posts no matter what side of the political spectrum they were coming from.

I did have a problem when the discussions turned personal and that is where and when I chose, as anyone could have, to stop reading that thread. I stopped reading, not because an accusation of racism or inequality or other was leveled, but because the members who's opinions I respected only empowered the idealist to continue their rants by replying to them. You guys took the bait and let the conversation be changed! Guess who won the debate.

Like the itch of a hemorrhoid, if you continue to scratch it, it'll always be there. If you grin, bare it and do your best to ignore it, chances are it'll just go away.

A good number of us spent time throughout this formerly comprehensive Forum. The trashers of the politics Sub-forum did not.

Your comments reek of sarcasm but you make more sense than you know. If one must invest skin in the game, money, and be actually committed to a relationship of friendship as well, civility tends to remain part of the equation.

Read your post again and see if you can devine the wisdom hidden in your own message.

BTW, CICCI has a wine and cigar forum. Having what to do with cars?????????????

If being part of the Crossfire Forum meant everyone was in agreement, we would all be driving Aero Blue SRT's or SSB Roadsters.

Yes, the forum is about "cars", namely Crossfires.

But it is also about the community of people that share an interest in Crossfires.

How wonderful that we could share a common interest blended with the many differences in type, color, and style. We do not ridicule each other because of a preference not the same as our own. We accept them and are interested to know in what it is they like about their particular version of the Crossfire.

The same carried over to the Political thread. Many of us who found new friends here, shared and blended that common bond to a better understanding of other personal views.

At a time in our country when it is so important that we all come together and try to understand why we feel the way we do, personal attacks were allowed to spoil a valuable and interesting venue which was enjoyed by so many of our forum community.

No one was ever forced to read the political thread. They chose to be there.
