I'm looking to buy a coupe but am undecided whether to purchase a newer model (07 or 08) rather than an 04-05. My concern is the repair costs since I wouldn't be able to fix anything myself. I would like to obtain a bumper-to-bumper maxicare plan for piece of mind but not sure if one could get a policy on a 7 or 8 year old car? I have been looking at some nice 2004 coupes for around 14K. Looks like the newer models running around 17-18K. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

 

I've had my '04 for a while. The maintenance costs have been reasonable. It has been on a tow truck several times. Flat tire = tow truck. The other times were for the CPS problem that you have probably seen mentioned a few times. Drive train failures have been rare. So I wouldn't get an extended care but would recommend getting a tow service (AAA?).

It is expensive to repair and getting parts can be a problem but luckily failures are also rare.
