Rear-ended in traffic today..
It was a great day! I got promoted / got a raise at work, and took off early to avoid traffic... or.. not so much. I ended up in stop/go on the interstate and got plowed into by an 18-wheeler sans trailer.. back bumper has a big hole where a bolt went through it, but other than that the only visible damage is cracked driver side tail light. Looks like the only part of his truck that hit the XF was the front bumper, which is all bent up on his truck.
Somehow, no damage to painted metal surfaces at all. Maybe some light scratches, they might have already been there though.

The damage was surprisingly not too bad. The bumper, obviously. The driver taillight's corner broke off, that was replaced.. and there was a bit of damage underneath.
It took two weeks, but finally got the car back. Looks good as new. The good news is -- a friend backed into me with his truck and his tow hitch pierced my bumper.. and my brother scraped the bumper against a small pole. So, the bumper was due for replacement
I'm just glad that I waited.
I'm really satisfied with the work the shop did, it looks like it did the day I bought it (with 20,000 miles on it!). The shop did put small tear in my tint on the driver's side window, but it's not a big issue -- and the $50 or so to re-tint that vs. the job they did.. we'll call it even.
I managed to get a few thousand from the shipping company that rear-ended me, as well. Since this is depreciating my car, and all. About 20% of what I paid for the car. So, I consider myself pretty even at this point.
Repair bill came out to around $2300. +$2000 for depreciation thanks to wreck, +$525 for rental.

Glad this worked out for you. It was good thing that the truck behind didn't push you into the truck ahead or you would have really had problems.
