Outside Temps
Already been into the negative side of the scale this week. Too damn cold for me, especially when i'm trying to kick Bronchitis, sinus infections and all kinds of other crap all at once.
We finally got above freezing yesterday for the first time in over a week. We had lows around -12 the past week. No top-down driving in the near future unfortunately.
I just finished my day as a letter carrier for the US postal service up here in the frozen north. I have a walking route that takes about 6 and a half hours on the street. When I started this morning at 10 am, it was 10 below. By the time I ended my route it had gotten up to a "high" of zero degrees. After 25 years of doing this, I can say that the human body does get acclimated to the cold. I made it just fine. I hope I got all the mail to the correct addresses on my route! Oh, by the way, my 2007 Crossfire base coupe started just fine, although the steering and the clutch and the shifter were pretty slow to warm up!!

On Dec 7th we hit a record low for the high temp of 27. The ice from last Thursday night/Friday ice storm FINALLY started melting Monday and yesterday. Areas in the shade are still solid ice. By the end of this week we are to be back to normal temps in the 50/60's with rain.
My respect to the postal carriers....I caught my carrier this evening, as I get him a gift card every year. He's delivers a country route in his right hand steer wrangler, but he still looked cold with his head hangin' out the window. I just came in, and it exactly zero right now...looks like we will go below zero tonight. I guess we all need to have a winter CAA on an island somewhere....
I have two beaters. The Tahoe, just went to my mechanic for a brake job, too cold for me. My Suzuki needs an alternator, tires, and a service, but she has to get me to the therapist and back for a few days in the cold and snow...so even the back up needs a back up around here...but, yes, get you a beater...
4 degrees right now but, it's the snow on the ground and the salt on the roads that bother me the most. Plus there is more on the way and we always seem to be right on that 32 degree line so we get ice, sleet and my favorite graupel. Graupel - Ask.com Encyclopedia We had it all last week and it's not even winter yet. So far we have gotten off much easier than a lot of other areas but, it's shaping up to be a looong winter.

22 here right now. I think it was 17 or 18 an hour ago. In the desert with no precipitation it just get's cold, no snow or anything, way too dry. Weird for December though, I think we're usually low 30's right now.
I don't see how you do it Doc. I would be buying the heater jackets, gloves, pants, putting a solar panel on a helmet and carrying around a battery lol
OH, you get use to it, but it doesn't make you like it....I just charged both batteries on the XF's....going to fire them up this weekend and swap them around in the garage. Hopefully have some new grilles to work on once it warms a bit. Can't even get to my toolbox right now, and really don't want to...lol

Did find out the Crossfire has a really good heater. Coming home tonight it was clear down in the 50's so was needed. Now that the dry season is here we have lots of waterfront property.
Was a house about a mile from here that for years had a three car boathouse in the rainy season.
Spent five years in Indiana and Michigan while a GMI student. This is the weather we put up with the 100 days of summer for.
