Today's lesson is...
I got the stuff together to wash the car and got it all wet and got the top cleaner from the bag and cleaned the top real good. Got done with the top and finished washing car and got to the scrubbing the tires part and went for the bag to pull out the tire cleaner and the top cleaner was in the bag. Doh... I had scrubbed the top with Wesley's tire cleaner. I cleaned it again with the top cleaner and everything is fine. That's what happens when you don't pay attention.
LOL We've all made mistakes like that. When I was 15 I was very proud when my Aunt asked me to top off her Transmission Fluid. I did, but with Brake Fluid.
.
I did that once with a motorcycle so only a few quarts wasted
As for our cars and synthetic oil a greater loss for sure
I did the same on my Cub Cadet RZT mower a few years back.
It has a valve on the crankcase where you connect a hose to drain the oil into a container you place underneath the mower.
I started the oil draining and figured give it a little time.
When I came back, I changed the filter, forgot to shut the valve and started adding oil.
The Kawasaki twin should have held about 2 quarts, after 3 quarts added and it still didn't measure on the stick, I figured out what I had done.
I looked, and the gallon container had overflowed and I now had 1 quart on the floor, and 4 quarts of old/new oil in the container.
So, overall a simple 2 quart change took 5 quarts and a sizable clean-up.
