Oil Prices Dropping - Russia vs. Saudis
Filled up our 2012 Fiesta this morning for $1.689/gallon at Sam's Club in Greenville, SC. Sam's Club selling Unleaded Super for $2.039/gallon. Probably will take the Crossfire over after lunch & fill it up. Haven't seen gas prices this low in several years. Almost like the "good old days" when gas wars occurred every so often. Price of a gallon of Unleaded Regular was $1.769 at Sam's Club yesterday. Dropped $0.08/gallon since then. Enjoy it while we can!
Personally, I’d rather pay the higher price for gasoline. I believe it would have been much cheaper for us in the long run... retirement accounts and personal investments took a huge hit this week when the oil war began. The coronavirus pandemic has taken its toll on our accounts, too. Oil producers filing for bankruptcy and oil workers filing for unemployment will also come at a huge cost to us. Oh well, it is what it is.

Huh??? You really must be kidding us right? OK, under what mindset does paying a higher price for anything a good thing? Your wanting higher prices (really, think about it given your reasoning), makes no sense. I'd rather pay a lower price. Do you know how the price of the gas you pay for here in the US gets inflated from the wells where it comes from?

No, I’m not kidding. The drop in oil prices alone (not including the effects of the coronavirus) had a huge negative impact on the stock markets. Many of us lost the equivalent of a new car and a lifetime supply of premium gasoline on Monday alone. I agree with you, I don’t like paying any more than I have to for anything, but instability in the markets have a huge negative impact on our 401k and IRA investments. With regards to jobs, one friend in the oil business took a pay cut this week just to keep her job. Others at her company were reduced to part-time and loss of benefits, while others were laid off. I know of others in the engineering field who have had refinery design and construction projects canceled, which will likely lead to layoffs there, as well. Layoffs in turn lead to an increase in unemployment claims, which we the taxpayer pay for. Yes, it would have been a LOT cheaper for me to pay an extra 25 cents for a gallon of gas.

It looks like you and I are in that 60+ age group of being more susceptible to the coronavirus. Good luck to you and your family, as well as everyone in our Crossfire family!
You are right in so many ways here... too many people live well beyond their means confusing wants with needs and have not built up an emergency fund. Fortunately for my wife and I, we’ve had successful careers and are now retired. Our savings are well diversified so we should be able to easily ride this storm out. Unfortunately, too many people did not learn a thing from the last recession.

Gas prices seemed to have leveled off around here now. Cheapest I've seen was $1.459.gal (Regular) and $1.739/gal (Premium) at both Costco & Sam's Club..
Northwest Arkansas: Lowest I am seeing is $1.69 regular and $2.05 premium.
Seems to still be dropping but I cant say for sure.
Meanwhile, stores have everything except TP, paper towel and hand sanitizer. Food shortages have stopped, cause everyone panic-bought and are stocked up!

I own a small business and work in the oil and gas field. Not actual oil fields but you get it. This has killed mine and many other businesses like mine. I live in Oklahoma and most of the people I know that work in oil and gas are jobless or have pretty much let go of everybody that works for them. Most of us are contracted workers. Our job losses started way before this though because of a lot of the business that is done with China. Trying times right now.
Gas here is as low as 1.15$.

We do have some benefits up here.
The people in Puerto Rico deserves a good break after all the ***** thrown at you, paper towels excluded.
I paid 79.9 in CDN pesos per liter for 91 octane (no ethanol) at Costco yesterday.. Least expensive fill-up in the 12.5 years I've owned my Crossfires!
