Six weeks ago I bought a 2006 Crossfire Limited Convertible in almost pristine condition with 68K miles. Price was maybe $1000 too much but I really liked the car. Anyway, prior to purchase I had read that it costs about $455 year to maintain and ranks 11th out of 32 car manufacturers for reliability. So far I have spent $1800 on repairs/replacements (drivers seatbelt replacement and both inside door pull handles, vinyl/leather repair for small areas on a seat and shifter boot, trunk arms, repainted front bumper due to hairline cracks and replaced the drivers side air vent). With all this said, the car really doesn't perform as well as it looks. First gear is mainly to get the car moving then get into 2nd and 3rd as quickly as possible or people behind you are all over you. I shift this according to the manual (about 3k rpm's) and it sounds like it's ripping up pavement but it's just barely keeping up with traffic. I could change the airflow systems and get an increase of 8-15 horsepower for an additional $600 but I've already spent enough and the car is starting to lose it's luster with me .The SRT6 version with 330 hp would have been a better choice but they are hard to find in great condition with low miles. The main thing going for the car is it's styling, a real head turner and nothing else like it on the road. So, I'll keep it for a year, sell it and move on.

Reason: Omit some wording

They are not rocket ships but are good cruisers. The gearbox is sluggish and a basic Honda will leave you standing, as the pause for changing gear wastes time. I think my wife’s Elantra could leave the NA I had behind initially.
A ride in an SRT made me get one.

You are driving a car that is 15+ year old design and engineering. That said not many cars run off and leave me looking foolish from a red light, but I have the automatic and use it like a manual. Drive it as you please, and enjoy the ride. There are plenty of 500 ~ 600 hp turbo cars out there, but you will have a hard time buying one for about $6000.
These are great cars for the money, and now that you have the cosmetics taken care of it would be a shame to sell it.

Reason: spelling
Of course I drove it before buying but I was taking it up to 4K rpm per shift which greatly reduces your mpg. So, under normal driving per the manual, 3K rpm per shift is recommended but it's a creeper @ that rate. Anyway, it's a good weekend cruising car for the money.
