Default Passing of Dave Hall aka "Onehundred80"

It is with a heavy heart that I pass along the sad news delivered to me from Dave’s wife, Linda. Our dear friend, Dave Hall (affectionately known as Oneeighty on the Crossfire forum) passed away on January 1st.

Dave was a leader in our Crossfire community and was always willing to lend his engineering skills and knowledge of how to improve the Crossfire experience to those who sought advice. One look at the mods he introduced to his own SRT and you knew that you’d found a perfectionist who would only be made happier if he could help you.

When I first purchased my Roadster Limited, Dave was the first person to reach out to me and correct how I closed the roof - BEFORE I DAMAGED IT! I think of him every time I close that roof.

Later, it was the Nav Radio, the Stereo speaker fix which gave me phenomenal volume at a cost of about $2, flashing third brake light, cabin filter change, EuroTune upgrade, transmission sensor fluid leak repair, recommendation to carry a Crank Position Sensor and TPS BEFORE I turned 70,000 miles (literally save me on a road trip). And there were countless other tips for ownership he gave to me and to others. Perhaps the best tip I recall is Dave recommending to one newbie what he did to me. Instead of asking so many questions, just take a Saturday night or two and sit at the computer with a bowl of popcorn and read the forum! I actually did that and it has really enhanced my enthusiasm and it strengthened my relationship with Dave and others. With Dave as my mentor, I now carry non polarized speaker upgrade capacitors and do them for others. If you haven’t done this - I highly recommend it.

Dave always looked forward to Norm’s Annual BBQ for a chance to have a beer, share some great food and to see his friends in our Crossfire community. Dave also hosted a GTG in Caledon for a BBQ and Car Show at the arena.

Dave was a very proud Grandfather and spoke fondly about his family and his wife when given a chance. Alway welcoming at his home, it was a treat to drop in to see Dave and chat about anything.

Dave fostered numerous relationships for me with other owners. Never once did any of them sneer at my lack of understanding of this new passion back in 2012. Because of guys like OneEighty and members of this wonderful forum, I have admired, learned from and now try to share what I’ve learned as they’ve done with me.

We will all miss Dave. We’ll see you down the road, pal!

Thanks!!

Fondly,
John aka PitMarshal

Dave and John McG were intrumental in helping me purchase my very first Crossfire. 180 convinced me in getting the SRT6 instead of the NA and the rest was history...... Rest In Peace Dave.

I'm sorry to hear of his death 😌
I had the pleasure to meet Dave at several Crossfire events he attended
The Woodward Dream Cruise and The Tail of the Dragon.
I did reach out to him here with a private message in November and he responded that he had been suffering illness and he explained why he hadn't posted here for awhile.
I wished him well and that was my last correspondence with him.
The forum has lost a valuable member and the Crossfire community has lost a long time member as well.
He provided help to many members here and spent years posting a ton of documentation on this forum and you can see a lot of it in this link right here:

Index of Crossfire problems and repairs
RIP Dave 🙏

When I heard of his illness, I messaged him. I was kinda sure something was up, as he was not on here much in recent months. Dave and I exchanged a few messages where he updated me on his condition and I shared with him of my medical issues.

Dave and I go way back to 2009 when I got my first Roadster and showed up on the forum. His first response to one of my posts, at first, seemed terse - but I quickly realized he was just stating facts and setting me strait, bringing me up to speed quickly. I quickly realized that he had tremendous knowledge and was quick to share it. Over the years, we interacted a lot in threads and quite a bit in private messages. Before long, a friendship developed that now leaves me feeling empty at his passing - I somehow believed he'd always be there.

I shall never forget the last exchange between us, I could sense that he knew his time was coming to a close. I knew him for almost exactly 14 1/2 years. He and I had differing religious (and even political) views, but we maintained a wonderful friendship. I wish I'd lived closer to him, as we had very similar personalities. And while he had a greater mechanical skillset than I, I think I had greater electronic/electrical skill. He sure taught me some things and I hope I taught him some as well.

Dave contributed IMMENSELY to this forum, there is content here that we'd not have had he not put in a LOT of hours of his own time. This is the end of an era for sure.

RIP my friend, we will miss you. We already do.

I am sad to hear of Mr. Hall's passing. I only knew him by his forum name and only for a short while here on the forum.
He helped me out a few times on some issues and I am grateful for his knowledge and his taking the time to do so.
I would like to offer my deepest sympathy and prayers to his family and friends.
Rest in peace.

Like the original poster, Dave was the first to reach out when I joined the Crossfire family offering a welcome and an answer to my first question. I have much respect for his knowledge and appreciated his humor. He will be sadly missed, my deepest sympathy.

This truly is a sad day for the Crossfire Forum, as well as the members, the passing of Dave Hall (onehundred80). Dave joined the forum in April 2006, the same month I joined the Crossfire forum, when I purchased my SRT6 Coupe. Dave provided an enormous amount of information and documentation on every subject related to the Crossfires.
Thank you for contributing!
Rest in Peace Dave...

We’ll all miss Dave.

One of my first interactions on the forum 11 years ago was with 180
I’m sure EVERYONE remembers their first interaction with Dave, I though what holy smoke what a curmudgeon

Wow, was I ever mistaken. Dave was great guy, Dave was awesome, Dave was a teacher and I learned a lot from him.
I had the great fortune of breaking bread with him over dinner and I’ll never forget it.
He left a positive indelible mark on me. So many times he would refer us to the search bar but many times I would PM him looking for something (cause I can be lazy) and he always delivered.

So many things I’ve done on my car were a byproduct of the information he shared.
I miss his daily posts, I miss his insights and I miss him because he has a really great guy.

He was an amazing Canadian and that make me really proud to be one too

Yes Dave was a major part of this forum. He was always helpful although you had to get through the first contact and the "not sure what just hit me" moment! He sold me
a few parts over the years and helped me out more than a couple times. He will be missed. Condolences to his family

Dave Hall (onehundred80) will be truly missed by the Crossfire Community. All of us owe a huge amount of gratitude to Dave's efforts in setting up & supporting the vast library of knowledge residing on the thread 'Index of Crossfire problems & repairs'. Probably the single-most contribution to & on this Forum. Dave & I, at times, had some very strong exchanges, but whenever I reached out to him via Private Message, he always gave me sound advice & direction for solving my issue. I had the utmost respect for his engineering know-how and the greatest respect for him as a human being who was always willing to help. My sincere condolences to his Wife & Family. We lost a great human being & Crossfire Teacher! RIP

Dennis E.
