console touch up paint
Hello,
I am sure you all have seen the commercial for Lowe's that says they can match the paint color on any item you bring in them. Well I did just that, I removed the lid from the console along with the silver plate on top and headed down to Lowe's to see if they could match the color. I have the dark grey interior and low and behold it was a success, the color match was pretty much on the money. When I removed the silver plate from the lid the dark grey color is also present there and that is where Lowe's applied a little paint to test the color as it will not show when the silver plate is replaced. So I went home and took a little of the paint from the can and added a small bit of black paint to it and tested it on the console lid and a perfect match when dried. I touched up the areas on the console that flaked off and you can't even tell. Hope this helps others with the flaking problem on their console's.
The paint is Valspar interior water base, eggshell finish, mix # for the dark grey 113-1Y9.5 107-23 101-1Y16 109-1.5

Wait, I'm confused (it happens often!). Lowe's matched the paint and tested it in the store, but when you brought it home you added some black to it to do the touchup? Did I miss something?

You can buy touch up paint for the interior. I know a guy that bought the gray for a two tone interior. He had to touch up the area around the console.
I have trouble with latex enamel standing up to my kids, not sure I would use it in the car.
