Just unscrew the bottom piece off, and pull on the ****.

Screw? There isn't a screw, just a bottom piece that unscrews from the **** allowing the **** to be pulled off of the lever.

After you unsrew the bottom trim piece, get ready to pull really really hard......and be careful not to hit yourself in the face once it comes loose

That ain't no $hit, my OEM **** wasn't to bad getting off. But when I put my SLK **** on I stuck it on backwards (DUH) and when I tried to get it back off I thought I was going to pull the whole shaft out of the tranny. I hope I never have to take that thing off again. I love the looks and feel of it.

I did that once with a wrench package and hit myself in the face with the adjustable wrench. 4 hours and a few stitches later I was good....not one of my proudest moments

Question Re: shift **** replacement?

Anyone know where I can get the black leather SLK shift **** (like in post #9)?
I've looked online at a bunch of places, but I have not been able to find one.
TIA.

Yup. They usually have some, but they have wood, etc. on them. I just want a plain black one.

You might want to check with andrew. I'm nearly positive that it's the OEM **** [called a "handle"] from the '04 SLK that he had in his car, too.
