Default Steering Wheel

Hi

I have no idea whether this is possible, but has anyone replaced their steering wheel with a more sport-styled steering wheel?

I imagine it would be difficult if not impossible because the stock wheel has the airbag inside it.

Yes you can change the steering wheel, but only with another wheel from a mercedes vehicle. I believe the big SL wheel is compatible with the R170 chassis cars.
do a search on the popular mercedes forums!
otherwise No, you cant use an aftermarket wheel, it wont work, even if the hub splines are correct for mbz cars. most aftermarket wheels will work on 70's, 80's and early 90's mbz cars, but not the new stuff, it's mor to do with the blinker switches and not the airbag, at least this is what HDDP posted. To find out just tear into it.

This one would look good and probably match my grey dash.

You would be missing an airbag though.

For $1,129.90 and no airbag, it better look good!

I saw the Brabus one for the SL the other day, it was ****.

I'd have to say the steering wheel is the ONLY thing I don't like about the Crossfire... reminds me of a Tractor.

There was a MB one floating around BENZworld.org for like $400 but again I think an Airbag is an arm and a leg..
