Default Steering Wheels anyone Done this?

Has anyone put aftermarket Steering wheels in their rides? I think it'd be sweet to get a Mercedes Steering wheel. anyone know of this, or have any pics?

Almost impossible, unless you want to get rid of the airbags.

you will find great steering wheels with airbag if you look:

http://www.raid-rdi.com

for example

Art.-Nr. 70139
raid Airbaglenkrad, 340mm, Daytona
Leder schwarz glatt/perforiert, Alu-Hupentasten

You will need a raid adapter fitting for mercedes SLK R170

It works. I´ve changed serveral steering wheels

Excellent idea to preserve the airbag with the use of a MB steering wheel. If you do any mods, keep us posted. I certainly couldn't mind the wheel off a wrecked couple year old SL in my XF :-)

Oh damn!! The flat bottom wheel with the silver trim is gorgeous. I would love a flat bottom steering wheel and the silver trim would be a perfect match to the rest of the silver trim on the car. But $745 plus shipping? Ouch.

I just received my wheel. I need to fit a another emblem at the bottom (where the aston martin logo is) and find the hub to fit it to the crossfire. This one was made for an Aston db7 but when you change the hub you can fit it on anything. It's a 365mm so 15mm smaller than stock. Hopefully it clears the gauges.

I know this is an old thread brought back from the dead but I am still trying to find what adapter I should get for my atiwe/raid aftermarket steering wheel with airbag. Anyone has an idea? I have read speculation that an hub/adapter/boss kit from a w202 may fit? The steering wheel from these cars seem to be swappable in ours so the adapter should work.

Thank you

I found the right hub and part number to fit an aftermarket steering wheel WITHOUT airbag. MOMO 6008 or 6008R. It does not require any modification.

It says that it fits w202s w210s and w220s but it works on the R170 and Crossfire as well.

BUT since my wheel comes WITH an airbag. I think I have I have to find a genuine Atiwe hub (for the w202s w210s and w220s should work) for airbag compatibility and for a cleaner look(more compact, all metal, no rubber boot).

I hope this can help someone in the future.

**UPDATE**

I found the part number of the genuine Atiwe hub for my airbag steering wheel.

It's the adapter type 160 for w202/w210/w220

Atiwe Part #170160
Raid Part #160160
FVD Part #70160

If anyone needs a sticker like I do (in my case, to get rid of the Aston Martin logo)
Sticker Part #1666

I'm ordering my hub from FVD (Porsche Tuning company)
Bought the wheel from an Aston Martin dearler

I will report back once the install is done in a few weeks!
