leather wrapped door pulls
I remember seeing pics where someone wrapped the steel door pulls with leather. Seems like a simple winter mod. Does anyone know who this person is? Search only leads me to everything about leather wrapped steering wheels

The door pulls are 2 piece affairs that snap together (feel the seam?) it covers one of the bolts that hold the door panel to the door. I don't see how a single piece of leather will work and still allow you to access the bolt as well. If made with two pieces they would have to be as thin as cigarette paper to fit in the seam where they snap together, I don't think leather comes that thin.
You might be able to get one that raps and hold together with Velcro. Thats what they do with the Mini Cooper. I bet that company that's making the shift boot would do it.
Ive cut an 8"x4.5" piece of gray leather, 4.5 wraps around the pull and 8" wont drown out the steel of the pull (balanced look). Then Ive cut black leather strips that will fold over the ends and cover aprox 1/2...they will be sewn on. Im going to use a hole punch to make eyelets and find something to simply lace them up on the inside/towards the door panel where its not visible. Im not to concerned about having to remove them if I need to split open the door pull. If they come out ok then cool, if not thats ok too cause Ive managed to keep busy one more rainy cold October day

Not too shabby! Looks nice, and matches well.
I think I would have made it a tad longer. That's just me, though! Maybe slanted the ends a bit?

Awesome job......
I would prefer if it covered the whole tube handle. You can always scrunch it a bit to have access to any type of screws or clips.

Great job, I also agree that they should be longer, and slant in with the form of the complete handle, and would be a lot better in the colder weather to grab, or hold on to while your driving, and at worst case you just remove the stiching to gain access to the screw, again great job and idea.

Now that you know it works out so well, you might want to consider this: ..take them back off, soak them in water for a bit, and then reinstall. . I bet they'd tighten up just like shrink wrap.
Otherwise, good job..take....
