Default Seat Exchange 2005 to 2006 with power adjust

I want to exchange my non power cloth seats in my 2005 base model to some leather seats. I found a set of powered leather seats from a 2006 and a 2005.

Will they just bolt on? And if they do, do I have to run power to them and will a straight 12volt line work?

If anyone has a clue I would greatly appreciate any info. Thanks!

Have you tried to do a search? I did a search on "seat swap" and found this among others.

Fel around under the seat, maybe the wires are already there.

Be sure to disconnect the battery. The airbags are wired into the seats. They have what Chrysler calls a simulated sensor As far as I can tell this is just a wire that detects if the seat belt is buckled. It would be worth tracking this down because it could affect the airbag deployment. Another place to look for seat wiring is under the passenger seat, pull up the carpet and the foam under the carpet (great place to smuggle diamonds) I have only done this on the passenger side so I do not know if the same is true for the drivers side, but I followed wires there from the power seat. Please be careful with anything that involves the airbags. They can go off when you do not want them to, or not go off when you do!

I decided to jus get a 62 sq ft black hide off ebay and have my local upholstery shop take care of it. Total cost is 300 and i get that fresh smell of leather.

What I'm more interested in is the diamond smuggling!!

I almost did the same swap as the first post except it was 04 leather for my 05 cloth. One of the seats out of the salvage car did not move so it was impossible to unbolt. Thank god. I predict that trying to get the electronic motors to work and wire in a new set of heated seat switches would have been a royal pain in the a$$...and I've been doing car electronics professionally for over12 years. From what I've seen, the SLK seats are identical to the base Crossfire seats except they are in leather and probably electronic. Anyone else atempting this swap could maybe try to score the leather part of the seats and a set of headrests, if you had to, and replace the cloth. I like the idea of having an interior shop recover them. As a side note, I just baught this car about two weeks ago and it had kind of a chalky white residue on the driver's seat cushion. I thought maybe "love stains" (LOL) or a water leak but I have a co-worker that said his had the same stans. Is this common amongst cloth x-fire seats? Got a hell of a deal on this low mile car so I don't mind investing a little to make the car's interior seem new again.

WISE MOVE... that was going to be my suggestion. Get fresh new leather installed. And I wouldn't mess with electric seats. Too many potential problems. I would rather adjust the seat by hand.

kind of a chalky white residue on the driver's seat cushion. (Quote from blackonblack)

I have it also, on both
Mine is a roadster and I have the top down ALOT.
I am not to upset & plan to have the seats cleaned after winter.
I thought it was just dust that got on them?
If anyone knows more please tell?

I just did the seat swap and the slk seat backs are slightly different in size and shape when sitting next to the factory ones. You must do a full seat swap not just the covers. BTW most good local interior shops wanted $1000 to do the seats in leather. Katskins is probably afew hundred cheaper. I think that what I originally thought was a chalky residue on the factory cloth seats was just the way that these seats wear. They kind of turn a lighter shade and become a little shinny in the worn areas. Also any rain water that gets on them leaves stains. Good riddens old base model seats!!!
