Default Rear view mirror removal

I knocked the mirror housing off its base today. Its has a ball and socket type joint. I'm worried that I might break the windshield pushing hard enough to "relocate" the ball in the socket. Does anyone know how to remove the bracket for the mirror. Im not trying to detatch the base that is glued to the glass, just the plastic bracket. There is a small hole that faces the windshield but i cant tell what type/size fastener might be in there.

My mirror fell of a couple days ago I just looked in that little hole and there is no screw or anything in there.I just pulled mine apart to see how hard it was to the ball back into the socket and I dont think you will break your glass.

I went for it and it popped right back on. I had my wife push on the outside just in case.
