Default Disable power seats?

I have both of my seats set perfectly, and do not want them to be adjusted. Also whenever I have a new passenger, I don't want to have to remember to tell them not to adjust the seat. Both work perfectly and I don't want someone to accidentally break the motor trying to move it beyond the bulkhead.

That said, I am not really willing to pull seats out or pull the whole dash apart... I looked but could not find a fuse that would only disable seat adjustments, but is there something I can get to very easily without any risk of permanent damage which will disable the seat adjustments?

Not sure, but I would think that there would be a plug under the seat that would disable it.

In the wiring diagram, looks like fuse 21, and 22. Both are 30 amp. They are in the underhood accessory fuseblock. Great idea, I hate when people move my seats!!!

By pulling the fuses, would that kill the seat heater?

That is what I did not want to do (I actually use the seat heaters frequently). I might mess with it this weekend if I get time.

You were correct, pulled those two fuses... Perfect! Btw, I had only checked the fuse box inside the car (thinking it had to contain all of the interior related fuses) I feel like such a noob for not checking all the boxes... And normally I know better. Thanks for the help Tuna.

Ok...the fuses are locked in the underhood accessory fuseblock..... now for my question.

Washed the XF, and use a garden hose to rinse it off..... later I tried adjusting both seats, but neither would work..... about an hour later, both worked fine.
Any ideas why this happened, or is this the norm after washing it? If not, any suggestions to stop it from happening would be appreciated.

Another question.... concerns the passenge side seat.
Like the driver seat, it slides back and forth, including the back portion of the seat, but unlike the driver side, height cannot be adjusted........ is there anyway to wire it so the height can be adjusted?

Was the car turned on when you tried to move them the first time?

If I recall correctly........ I did move the seats (both sides) while vacuuming the interior. This was done after washing and drying the XF.

Later, I started it up and tried to make adjustments on the driver side, but there was no power. Drove to the store and back (6 miles round trip), but the situation didn't change. The next day the seats were working after start-up.

I assume you moved the seats while cleaning the car with the doors open. Were you trying to adjust the seats later with the doors closed, as the seat relay can be half broken and the seat will not operate with the doors closed.
I authored a thread on this repair.
If the relay is 'half broken' the seats will operate with the ignition on or off as long as the door is open.

Just went out and did the following:
Key not in ignition....Passenger door open and seated inside, and door closed... in both cases the seat wouldn't move.

Key in on position only..... same results as above.

Started it up..... seats move with the door open and closed.

I'll search and read up on the tread you authored.

Thanks for the response and info.

Note: 07/19/2012... issue appears resolved...click
