Default What's under the Hump?

I just bought my first Crossfire and love it. Can anyone tell me what is under the hump behind the seats in a 2004 coupe?

Thank you.

I believe not much is there. I have not taken that area apart yet in either of my x-fires but there are sub ports behind each seat. So, I believe all it is is 1. A separator between the front and the cargo area 2. A support structure to stiffen the chassis and 3. An area to house the sub and or amp? Thats what I can come up with without taking it apart. Not to mention a place to put nifty bag hooks and some accessory holders Any one please correct me if my logic is wrong.

It is the reason your Crossfire is one of the safest two seaters around.

It is also why the coupe and the Convertable are equaly stiff.
It protects the gas tank.
In a side impact (Tbone) it keeps the car from folding in half.

The SLK 320 upon which the Crossie is based, only came as a ragtop. So, the hard top of your coupe is not a stiffiner of the body but a roll cage.

BTW the roll bar loops are fake.

1) Take a 1/2" drill bit and chuck it into your favorite drill.

2) Find the centerline of the car and make a mark 3" below the top of said "hump".

3) Start drilling until you find...GASOLINE!

Franc, you're just no danged fun!

One wonders how many guys went to mount a five point harness and found your prize?
